Who wants to spend the day waiting in store lines—and does anyone really need another electronic device? Instead, celebrate Green Friday with Wild Alabama on a nature-appreciation hike through the Cheaha Wilderness!

Have family visiting for Thanksgiving who need to experience the beauty of Alabama’s wild places? Bring them along! Located on the eastern side of the Cheaha Wilderness, the Nubbin Creek Trail features mountain laurel thickets, a beautiful waterfall, creek crossings, towering old-growth longleaf pines, and plenty of opportunities to spot interesting wildlife. Jonathan even saw an opossum there once!

Bring your binoculars, plenty of water, Thanksgiving leftovers, and your favorite friends and family members. We’ll hike approximately 4 miles, with a small but steady elevation gain during the first 2 miles.

Distance: Approximately 4 miles

Difficulty: Easy to moderate

Please bring:

• Lunch/Snacks (Thanksgiving Leftovers would be great!)

• WATER in a water bottle or your usual carrying container

• Toiletries Ziploc bag

• A small backpack for carrying these things!

• Appropriate Hiking Attire & Footwear

• Sense of Adventure
