Join Wild Alabama for a stewardship workday on the historic Odum Scout Trail, one of the most scenic and challenging trails in the Cheaha Wilderness.

Beginning at the High Falls Trailhead on the southern end of the Wilderness, the trail passes a series of beautiful waterfalls before climbing to the ridgeline, where hikers are rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Rich in history and natural beauty, the Odum Scout Trail is a favorite among hikers—but its abundant vegetation means it requires regular maintenance to remain accessible.

On this workday, volunteers will help clear overgrowth, trim back brambles, and maintain the trail corridor to improve the hiking experience for future visitors. It's a rewarding opportunity to give back to the trail while enjoying some of the most spectacular scenery in Alabama's highest mountain region.

No previous trail maintenance experience is necessary. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome.

Wild Alabama will provide:

• Necessary trail maintenance tools

• Hard hats (required while working under forest canopy)

• Work gloves

• Safety glasses

Participants should:

• Wear long pants and sturdy closed-toe footwear

• Consider durable work pants such as Carhartt, Dickies, or similar outdoor workwear

• Bring Water in a Bottle or your Favorite Container

• Pack a lunch and snacks

This workday will involve hiking and working on rugged terrain, so participants should be prepared for a physically active day outdoors.
