Hike n' Learn: Leave No Trace Hike

Dugger Mountain Wilderness

Trail Leader: Jonathan Kelly

Every time we visit the outdoors, we have an opportunity to leave a positive impact. Join Wild Alabama for a fun, interactive hike that introduces the Leave No Trace Seven Principles and explores how each of us can help protect the public lands we love.

This hike will cover approximately 5 miles with frequent rocky sections and significant elevation changes. While the distance is relatively short, the rugged terrain makes it a challenging hike. This hike is designed as a conversational experience where we'll discuss practical ways to recreate responsibly while enjoying the beauty of the Talladega National Forest. You'll learn simple, effective practices that help preserve trails, protect wildlife, reduce our impact, and ensure these special places remain healthy for future generations.

Leave No Trace is the nation's leading framework for responsible outdoor recreation, and Wild Alabama is proud to be recognized as Alabama's first Gold Standard Leave No Trace Program . Sharing these principles is one of our favorite things to do because we know that small actions, repeated by many people, make a tremendous difference.

Whether you're new to hiking or a seasoned outdoor enthusiast, we invite you to join us, ask questions, share experiences, and discover why we're so passionate about protecting Alabama's wild places—one step at a time.

Please bring:
